Résumé: L'intérêt d'étudier le théâtre que réalisent les Amérindiens de la République mexicaine résulte moins de son caractère quantitatif que des qualités qu'il présente. Il ne faut pas s'attendre à avoir affaire à un mouvement massif pour juger de son intérêt. Il est d'autant plus important qu'à l'époque actuelle on vit une dispute pour la construction de l'identité ethnique. En fait, les Amérindiens sont en train de participer activement à cette polémique. Le théâtre est devenu un moyen privilégié pour exprimer les différents aspects de cette construction. Pour accéder à une compréhension correcte de la complexité esthétique, sociale et anthropologique du théâtre amérindien, il est nécessaire de dépasser cette tendance à la valorisation que présentent la plupart des études qui lui ont été consacrées. Il faut adopter une perspective qui prenne en compte ce qu'il y a en lui de spécifique et d'étrange, de local et de global, de similaire et de différent, c'est-à-dire un regard qui ne se porte pas uniquement sur l'un des pôles de la comparaison entre théâtre amérindien et culture de l'observateur, en faisant de celle-ci l'étalon de mesure. Il faut envisager ces deux pôles simultanément. La connaissance de ce type du théâtre révèle également au moins trois problématiques : celle de la définition de l'ethnicité, celle de la relation entre théâtre et rituel et celle de la distinction et de la relation entre les niveaux de la forme, du sens et de la fonction. La théorie de l'ethnicité développée par Frederik Barth, le rituel comme partie d'une trame conceptuelle dans la théorie anthropologique et la distinction analytique que propose l'ethnoscénologie entre théâtre et rituel comme faisant partie du performatif en général, constituent des clés pour atteindre l'objectif de cette thèse : mieux comprendre la pratique du théâtre en milieu indien.

Résumé: Cette thèse porte sur le processus de création caractéristique du groupe de Théâtre Expérimental Capixaba (Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brésil), en analysant ses techniques du corps et ses relations avec les candomblés et la société brésilienne. Depuis vingt-cinq ans celui-ci assure un travail de recherche et de résistance contre la dictature (politique et économique) dans le pays. Elle rend compte de son passage d'un engagement politique militant sous-tendu par une esthétique théâtrale d'inspiration européenne au temps de la dictature militaire à un militantisme social, culturel et économique, sous-tendu par une esthétique théâtrale inspirée des pratiques des candomblés afro-amérindiens. Au Brésil les multiples formes de pratiques performatives (candomblé, congo et carnaval) constituent des expériences de vie individuelle et une action politique, corporelle et performative dans le quotidien du performer. La manifestation individuelle contribue pour une part déterminante à la fabrication et à la construction de la réalité. L'Axé est la fontaine et la force vitale (réinventée) de tout processus créatif du groupe avec sa théorie du Performer Iaô. Le Performer Iaô suit le principe même du candomblé et des rituels, à savoir qu'il développe toutes les possibilités du performer, tant sur le plan esthétique que comme expérience personnelle. De même que dans le candomblé, le performer cherche à intervenir sur sa propre réalité en développant ses caractéristiques personnelles, le Performer Iaô va agir sur sa réalité, la modifiant et agissant corporellement sur son temps présent. Les pratiques performatives et corporelles du groupe de Théâtre Expérimental Capixaba avec la société brésilienne sont de réinvention, une construction imaginaire, sociale, politique et individuelle d'une génération qui a cherché à construire dans la crise " économique ", " politique " et " existentielle " du Brésil une forme d'art performatif d'intervention. Comme réponse à cette crise, ils interfèrent dans la réalité et l'existence quotidienne de l'individu et dans l'espace-temps performatif (l'intimité, le privé, le public).

Résumé: Peu de contrées présentent une telle diversité ethnique que la Guyane française. C'est en considérant la pluralité des pratiques chorégraphiques observées dans la région polyethnique de l'ouest guyanais que l'auteur, professeur de danse classique, intègre d'autres comportements spectaculaires humains, soulignant ce qui sépare diverses scenifications cérémonielles de véritables théâtralisations "spectaculaires". Dans cette optique, au delà des différences manifestes d'une société a une autre, la mise en évidence de l'unité de pratiques spectaculaires ritualisées permet d'en dégager les implications ontologiques puisqu'il apparait que jamais l'homme n'ordonne sa vie innocemment et naïvement, que toujours il y met en jeu de grandes options métaphysiques. Formalisées en comportements spécifiques impliquant une participation collective a un même statut distinct de celui du quotidien, ces pratiques semblent permettre a l'humanité de maitriser le tragique de son existence par une adhésion totale, productrice d'émotions intenses présidant a la conscience vécue du sacre par l'association étroite de l'esprit et du corps, tant dans ses dimensions cognitives ou émotionnelles que spirituelles.
